Kanye West previews 'Graduation'

Kanye West's third album, "Graduation," isn't due out till summer's end, but the Grammy-winning, multimillion-selling rapper-producer is already leaking studio tracks on the Internet.

A batch of new West material has surfaced on a 25-track mix tape assembled by the producer. "Can't Tell Me Nothing (The Official Mixtape)" includes "Us Placers," a collaboration with rappers Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell Williams, billing themselves as CRS. Thom Yorke's "The Eraser," the title track from the Radiohead singer's 2006 solo album, serves as an eerie backdrop for a meditation on the lure of wealth, the perils of fame and the cruelty of fate. The three rappers' verses are loosely organized around Yorke's haunting refrain: "The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear."

Though West is a major-label recording artist, he has consistently leaked his music to the public through back-channel mix tapes, a burgeoning underground source for breaking new artists and laying the groundwork for new releases by established rappers. West floated his breakthrough song "Through the Wire" on the Internet long before it officially surfaced on his 2004 debut album, "The College Dropout."

Beyonce and Jay-Z Engaged!

It's about damn time!

It seems that pop star Beyonce may soon be walking down the aisle as beau Jay-Z popped the question during a luxury holiday in Cannes at the end of May.

The couple, who have been dating since 2002, are reportedly getting set for a big autumn wedding in Hawaii.

"This will be the hip-hop wedding to end all hip-hop weddings," the News of the World quoted a close pal, as saying.

Jay-Z, who cancelled a tour of the US promoting his Roc-A-Fella business empire to see his lady love perform in the UK, has apparently promised Beyonce "the biggest diamond she can fit on her finger" when she decides on a design for her engagement ring.

Beyonce had recently revealed that she wanted to settle down and have kids.

"I want to get married and really want a family—in a perfect world I'd have two boys and a girl. You know someone loves you by the way he treats you and respects you. Me and Jay respect each other," she said.

A spokesman for Jay-Z however refused to comment on the couple’s reported engagement or wedding plans.

TGT tour has the ladies in mind!

The R&B super group of Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank aim to bump up the swoon factor.

IF there's a concert tour with a more appropriate title than TGT's forthcoming "The Shirts Off Tour," we haven't heard it. A meeting of the minds (and glistening abs and chiseled jawlines) of R&B pinups Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank, the trio recently joined forces as a super group with a single mission — to please all the ladies, all the time.

"It's going to be the ultimate female experience," an obviously giddy Tyrese Gibson said about the group's fall tour. "It's going to be an escape for women, an escape from their everyday lives."

The three singers have been friends and fellow cads for a decade (Gibson was best man at Ginuwine's wedding), but they only collaborated for the first time on a remix of Tank's pleading new single "Please Don't Go." With 13 albums and a slew of hit singles among them, TGT is something of a Traveling Wilburys of R&B, if Bob Dylan had V-muscles to stop traffic.

They've even cribbed a bit from the R. Kelly manual of fantastically loony concept albums, as the lyrics to their "Please Don't Go" remix are ripe for plot twists on future singles.

"You're listening to us having a conversation about what we did for the girls in our lives to make them want to stop messing with us," Gibson said. "It's set up to have sequels."

A short list of producers for a full-length album is being bandied about, and their tour will feature a mix of solo material from each member and new TGT cuts. Supergroups are always dicey propositions, but TGT is admirably on-message in their intentions for the tour.

"There's going to be a lot of female emotions [at the shows]," Gibson said. "They're going to be horny, happy and screaming. We're going to shut down a whole floor of hotel rooms."

Beauty experts slap health warning on lipsticks past their sell-by date

Vintage fashion may be fabulous, but old make-up is putting women's health and beauty at risk, according to new research that has found the British tradition of collecting antiques extends to cosmetics and toiletries.
Show us a woman's handbag, say experts from the College of Optometrists and we will show you a 10-year-old lipstick, a five-year-old tube of mascara and a jar of rancid moisturiser, all teeming with harmful bacteria.

'It's ironic that women spend so much time and money on cosmetics to make themselves look beautiful, and yet in using it, they are making themselves vulnerable to infections that are anything but attractive,' said Dr Susan Blakeney, optometric adviser to the college.

The survey found that while women are keen to experiment with new cosmetics, they are less keen on throwing out the old. This morning, one in five women in her late thirties or forties will have put on her make-up using a product over five years old.
'All food has an expiration date and people don't think twice about throwing away milk when that date comes,' said Blakeney. 'The make-up you use should be as fresh as the food you consume. But women keep their make-up for many years, not to mention sharing it with friends and applying it in ways that could lead to serious damage.'

The best test, says Sebastian Parsons, managing director of the cosmetics and toiletry company Dr Hauschka, is to use your eyes and nose. 'I recently found some cleansing cream - the tube had been opened and I'd forgotten about it,' he said. 'The first half inch had gone off, but the rest was absolutely fine. It's always worth opening up the container and having a go.'

Use-by dates

Make-up, once opened, expires at

3-6 months Mascara

6-8 months Liquid foundation, cream foundation, concealer, cleanser, moisturiser

1 year Pressed powder, loose powder, shimmer powder, eye shadow, blush, lip gloss, lipstick, toner

18 months Eye and lip pencils

JENNIFER HUDSON WINS THE OSCAR!

Our beautiful and incredibly talented Jennifer Hudson has won the oscar for Best Supporting Actress 2007! Congratulations Jennifer, we love you!

From Oscar.com:

NOMINATED ROLE - Jennifer Hudson plays Effie White, a talented singer whose weight leads her manager and lover to relegate her to a back-up role in her singing group.

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH - Oh my God. I have to just take this moment in. I cannot believe this. Look what God can do. If my grandmother ... I didn't think I was going to win but, wow, if my grandmother was here to see me now. She was my biggest inspiration for everything because she was a singer and she had the passion for it but she never had the chance. And that was the thing that pushed me forward to continue. But I'm so grateful to have my mother here celebrating with me. My boyfriend, my sisters and my brothers back home, and then I've got two of them here. Thank you all for being here, and supporting me. I'd also like to thank Bill Condon, our director, who's a genius. Wow. Oh my God. Unbelievable cast. I'd like to thank the Academy. Definitely have to thank God again. I can't believe this. Wow, I don't know what to say but I thank you all for helping me keep the faith even when I didn't believe. Thank you and God bless you all. Jennifer Holliday, too.
